HISTORY Parkinson Field Associates is the 10th incarnation of the continuously-operated Parkinson architectural firm, founded in 1888 by Englishman John Parkinson in Napa, CA. Our successor practice was established in March of 1992 by then-Vice President of DWL Parkinson Architects, Wm. Scott Field, AIA. Starting out on Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles, Field moved the offices to Austin, TX in 1995 to capitalize on the booming Texas economy. Parkinson Field Associates has worked on numerous projects in California since that time, due to excellent referrals and contacts made there. In 1996, The Parkinson Archives, LLC (a Texas Corporation) was formed to promote, fully catalog and protect the huge collection of original drawings that the Parkinson firm has created over the years. We have assisted scores of researchers, historians, architects, interior designers, and developers with our invaluable resource over the years, and have had the privilege to provide our services on many Parkinson-designed historic landmarks. The bulk of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals. PARKINSON FIELD ASSOCIATES TODAYWm. Scott Field, AIA, Principal, is a sole practitioner specializing in historical properties. His 27-year professional experience includes most aspects of architectural design and project management for projects of many types: commercial, residential, preservation research and planning, hospitality, restaurant/night clubs, and institutional. Education for Field included a Bachelor of Architecture cum laude from the University of Houston (1980) and a Master of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, with a specialty in Historic Preservation (1981.) He taught upper level Interior Design courses at UT Austin for three years. Today, the firm takes on projects that challenge us for their difficulty (whether new construction or existing) which we welcome! Field also provides consultant services to large architectural/interior design firms for historic components of their work.
